Something exciting has just happened at Witter Farm, and that would be the birth of another calf! Revolver was due to calve on March 9th, and wouldn’t you know it, she did just that! Right around 3 AM three of our UMADCOW club members helped this new calf enter the world. This handsome boys name is Rhino and he is just getting the hang of things around here at Witter. He is a playful little guy and loves getting any kind of attention. He is still being bottle fed since he doesn’t know how to drink out of a bucket just yet, but he’ll soon get the hang of it. He’s being fed bucket milk since he’ll get the nutrients he needs to grow but it won’t cost the farm extra money. Although this calf is a cutie he won’t stay here forever, and will be sold as once he is big enough. Until then, we’ll all make sure he is as happy and healthy as can be!
As many of you may have heard, the University of Maine has sent most students home for the remainder of the semester to ensure the safety of everyone involved. Another precaution being taken is shutting down Witter Farm to visitors. As devastating as this is, it is necessary to keep the workers, and animals safe. Our top priority is to keep everyone happy, healthy and safe. Thanks for reading, I hope you all stay healthy, and are able to find all the toilet paper your hearts desire!
